Howard Kenneth Fortner Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Howard Kenneth Fortner in Norfolk, Virginia, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on May 20, 2026 at the age of 88. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Though his name may fade from the lips of time, the imprint Howard leaves upon the hearts of his loved ones remains eternally vivid — a testament to the depth of his spirit and the richness of his legacy.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard B. Fortner and Myrtle B. Gallimore Fortner; and his brother Ronald Joseph Fortner. He is survived by: his children, Cindy Fortner Woods (Rob Woods) and Greg Fortner (Terri Fortner); and his grandchildren, Meredith Woods and Kenny Woods. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 31st 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Woodlawn Funeral Home (6329 E Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk, VA 23502). A celebration of life will be held on Monday, June 1st 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the same location. The military honors will be held on Monday, June 1st 2026 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at the same location.
