It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jean Evelyn Derricott (Norfolk, Virginia), who passed away on July 28, 2022, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Jettie Hathaway and James Hathaway; and her siblings, Was, Alphonso Hathaway (Hamp), Barbara Surratt, Gloria Stewart and Shirley McInnis.
She is survived by: her sons, Clyde W. Derricott Jr. (Katrina) of Edgewood and J. J. Derricott of Gastonia; her daughter-in-law Michele Meeks Derricott (Javonna G. Derricott) of Gastonia; her grandchildren, Deja Meeks of North Carolina, J. J. Derricott Jr. of North Carolina and Jonathan Derricott of North Carolina; her sisters-in-law, Marion Hathaway of North Bronx and Olga Lee Pratt of Richmond, Virginia.; and her nieces and nephews, Elzie Stewart, Jamie Hathaway (Laurie), Joseph McInnis, Carl Surratt (Lil Carl), Terri Jo Hathaway and Jettie Menzies. She is also survived by other nephews, nieces, and many friends.
She was active with various Choirs, The Missionaries, the Helping Hands, the Scholarship Committee, and the Finance Committee until COVID 19.
