Though John may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those John touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
He was predeceased by: his mother Norma Vellines Eley. He is survived by: his father William Brinkley Eley; his wife Shelia Trout Eley; his daughters, Amy Carrington Eley and Cortney Branton Eley Clark; his son-in-law William Travis Clark; his granddaughter Carrington Clark; his brothers, William Brinkley Eley Jr. and Bruce Farrell Eley; and his sister-in-law Wanda Trout Romm. He is also survived by relatives, close friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 15th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Second Presbyterian Church (7305 Hampton Blvd, Norfolk, VA 23505).
