He was predeceased by: his parents, Frances Fowler Barnes and Harrell Alton Barnes, Sr.; his wife Bessie Bailey Barnes; and his brother Harrell Alton Barnes, Jr.. He is survived by: his sisters, Linda Barnes of Norfolk and Joyce Britt of Merry Hill; and his caregivers, John Tharp, Jr. of Norfolk, Virginia. and Christina Valentin of Norfolk, Virginia.. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
