She was predeceased by: her parents, James Person and Elizabeth Person; her husband Virdell Buffington, Sr.; and her grandchildren, Reginald Jerome Buffington and Alysha LaShay Buffington.
She is survived by: her children, Ellen B. Freeman, Vernell Coley and Virdell Buffington III; her granddaughter Cynthia; her great grandchildren, Patrick Izayah Cutler and Jeremiah Lee Compton Cutler; and her great great grandchildren, Naiari Monique Dione Starkley and Leilani Michelle Cutler.
