He was predeceased by: his parents, Ethel Haynes (Smith) and James Edward Haynes, Sr.. He is survived by: his wife Ouida W. Haynes; his sons, Melvin Phillip Haynes (Laurie) and Michael Buchanan Haynes; and his granddaughter Olivia F. Haynes. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
