Sharon Louise (Snyder) Solich Obituary
Sharon Louise Solich (née Snyder) died March 10, 2022, of natural causes, surrounded by family. The eldest of four siblings, she is survived by her sister, Suzanne Anderson. She was born June 29, 1930, in Evansville, IN, graduated high school there, and met her future husband in the spring of 1949 at Fort Knox, KY, where he was on active duty. They married on their ninth date on November 26 and remained married for 62 years until Joe’s death in 2011. Together they had nine children: Donald Joseph (Carol), James Thomas (Constance), Mary Jane Atwood (Robert), John Steven (Linda), Janet Sue, Jerry Michael (Debi), Julie Marie Erickson (Charles), Jill Diane, and Justin William (Ellen).
Sharon and Joe lived in Fort Belvoir, VA; Columbus, OH; Fort Knox, KY; Kaiserslautern, Germany; Verdun, France; Johnstown, PA; and North Fort Myers, FL. Sharon lived in Norfolk, VA for the last three years of her life. She was especially proud of taking her five oldest children to Germany on her own when the oldest was eight.
In Johnstown Sharon was head cashier at Gee Bee Grocery Store for many years and then was a life insurance agent for John Hancock Life Insurance.
Sharon particularly enjoyed cruise ship vacations with family and friends, traveling to the Caribbean, Alaska, and the U. S. eastern seaboard. She participated in water aerobics and book club with her many friends in North Fort Myers, and traveled frequently to Windber, Pennsylvania for family gatherings.
Sharon: 91 years lived. 62 years married to the love of her life. 9 children, 18 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren (with more on the way).
Here’s to all the Rosaries prayed, cruises sailed, water aerobics done, meals cooked, babies snuggled, weddings attended, slots played, advice given, miles traveled, ceramics made, shows watched, laughs shared, books read, conversations had, memories made…cheers to Sharon. What a life well-lived. Rest In Peace.
There will be a memorial service at Christ the Redeemer, 107 Seekel St, Norfolk, Virginia 23505 on April 30th, and her remains will be interred with her husband’s at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
