He is survived by: his wife Carmelita "Anna" Nowland; his children, Teresa May Gonzalez (Manny), Christopher Michael Nowland (Fatima), Michael Mark Nowland (Sheila) and John Edward Nowland (Olivia); his grandchildren, Marisela Settle (Tucker), Arianna Gonzalez, Yasmeen Gonzalez, Xerenah Gonzalez, Joseph Nowland and Karsten Nowland; and his great grandchild Luke Tucker Settle.
A celebration of life was held on Tuesday, November 18th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Woodlawn Funeral Home (6329 E Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk, VA 23502).
