It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Venus Alsop of Norfolk, Virginia, born in Hyden, Kentucky, who passed away on April 8, 2025, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Betty Brock Begley and Boone Hoskins. She is survived by: her siblings, John, Will, Jean and Bernadine; her sons, Gregory Smith and Rick; her daughter-in-law Marie Smith; her grandchildren, Valerie Popella (AJ), Andrew Smith, Tierney Burnett, Kayla Burnett and Morgan Burnett; her great grandchildren, Hailey, Hunter, Madison, Haven, Houston, Evelyn, Lucia and Luca; her sisters, Brenda Letsche and Phyllis Brashears; and her friend Mary Dunlap. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
