He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel W Abbott and Sue "Susie" Evans Abbott; and his brother Ralph W "Buddy" Abbott. He is survived by: his wife Sylvia Jean Abbott; his daughter Tracy Lynne; his grandchildren, Christopher and Tiffany (Robbie); his great grandchildren, Dakota, Aurora and Gwendolyn; and his brother Jerry. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 27th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Coastal Virginia Church (301 S Newtown Rd, Norfolk, VA 23502).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, or an animal rescue in Ernie's memory.
