He was predeceased by: his parents, Evan William and Helen R. Higgins (McIntyre); his wife Kathie Higgins (Calhoun); and his siblings, James C. Higgins and Mary H. Maclean.
He is survived by: his children, Heather Schulz (Albert), Holly Didawick (Josh), William Higgins (Margaret) and Samuel Higgins; his grandchildren, William, Amelia, Abigail, Allison, Debra, Anne and Evan; and his great grandchild Jaxon.
In place of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Virginia Zoo or the Virginia Wildlife Center, honoring Bill's lifelong appreciation for nature and wildlife.
