He is survived by: his wife Florence Marie Henderson Carter; his children, Cameron, Jr. of Charlottesville, Richard of Charlottesville, Kevin (Kalen) of Charlottesville, Jacqueline Waller of Charlottesville and Traci Barnes (Brent) of Richmond; his brother Alfred Carter, Jr. of Richmond; his mother-in-law Ida Henderson; and his aunt Betty Robinson Clark Nowell (Robert). He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters-in-law.
