He was predeceased by: his parents, Franklin West and Beulah Mae Dailey Thompson; and his sister Naomi Wilson Nicely. He is survived by: his brother Franklin MacDonald Thompson; his son John Dailey Thompson II (Jessica); his grandsons, John Andrew and Benjamin; and his sister Elsie.
