He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesse Thompson and Lydie Margaret Lester Thompson; his brothers, James Thompson, Harvey Thompson, Jerry Wayne Thompson and Paul Thompson; and his siblings-in-law, Carol Thompson, Brenda Thompson, Zola Thompson, Nora Thompson and Ed Parks.

He is survived by: his girlfriend Julie Coker of North Tazewell, VA; and his brothers, Danny Thompson (Sara) and Charles Thompson.
