He was predeceased by : his parents, Walter Adams and Viva Adkins Adams; his wife Anna Dingus Adams; his daughter Diana Adams; and his siblings, Cofer Adams, Carroll Adams and Jeanette Greear.

He is survived by : his grandson Christopher Adams of Gate City, VA; and his sisters, Ada Kiser of Norton, VA, Donna Stacy of Kingsport, TN and Ann Stacy of Lancaster, SC. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
