She was predeceased by: her parents, James William Smith and Margie Kinder Smith; her husband Wendell Ray Compton; and her siblings, Otis Smith, Faye Martin, Ralph, Robert Smith, Arthur Smith, Rufus Smith, Billy Gene Smith, David Smith, Walter Smith (Tommy) and Mary Ruth Davis.
She is survived by: her children, Linda Brooks of Norton, Brenda Palmer of Norton, Deborah Lawson (Gerald) of Norton and Stephen Smith (Shirley) of Lebanon; her grandchildren, Jason Brooks, Christopher Palmer, Jarod Smith (Melissa) and Adam Smith; her great grandchildren, Sloan Palmer, Keegan Palmer and Troy Brooks; her nephews, Tim Compton (Debra) and John Martin of Daytona Beach, Fla.; and her sisters-in-law, Meral Smith Skeens, Ruth Ann Smith and Lora Jane Smith. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 2nd 2025 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home (956 Park Ave NW, Norton, VA 24273-1821). A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 2nd 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location.
