It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Billy Ray Sturgill of Oakwood, Virginia, born in Harman, Virginia, who passed away on July 13, 2023, at the age of 76, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by : his father Bill Sturgill; his brother Danny Sturgill; and his grandson Christopher Skeens. He is survived by : his mother Ethel Sturgill Sappington; his wife Patricia Ann Peace Sturgill; his children, Melissa Compton (Teddy) of Pounding Mill, VA, Lisa Fields (Kayla) of Rosedale, VA, Lorie Ramey (Nathan) of Richlands, VA, Jennifer Skeens of Bland, VA, Tammy Elswick (Tim) of Dismal, VA and David Endicott (Angela) of Vansant, VA; his brothers, Randy Sturgill (Gail) and Nelson Sappington; his grandchildren, Maggie, Matthew, Anjelica, Nick, Jessica, Colby, Conner of Dannilynn, C. J., Hannah, Joshua, Phiip and Dylan; and his pet Daisy. He is also survived by 19 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

He also made toboggans and donated them to the Veterans Hospital in Johnson City, TN and attended Victory Baptist Church.
