As Sonny departs from this earthly realm, her essence lingers — a whisper on the wind, a ripple on the water — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of life and death. Though Sonny may no longer walk beside us, her spirit lives on in the memories and the legacy Sonny leaves behind.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Vernon Hundley Belote and Gretchen Denhart Shrieves Lewis; her husband Phillip Morris Johnson; and her sister Aubrey Wayne Belote (Alice Katherine "Kay" Jones). She is survived by: her daughters, Valerie Crockett (Mark) of Melfa, VA and Nicole Powell Kennedy (Michael) of Accomac, VA; and her grandchildren, Amber Crockett, J. P. Powell and Andrew Kennedy. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
