He is survived by: his wife Alicia Rogers Carlson; his daughter Arianna Carlson; his stepchildren, Kayla McDaniel (Hunter) and Tucker Herr (Miranda); his mother Susan Stege; his siblings, Coryann Carlson Cotter (Tom), David Barron (Jennifer) and Bobby Alfors (Chelsey); his niece Kayla Alfors (Noah Allison); his nephew Mickey Alfors; and his granddaughters, Briele, Bexley, Blaise, Elsie, Ivorey, Huntley, Lydia and Ledy. He is also survived by numerous Aunts, cousins.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 12th 2026 at 9:00 AM at the Culpeper National Cemetery (501 E Chandler St, Culpeper, VA 22701). A celebration of life will be held on Monday, October 12th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the Main Street Tavern (110 E Main St, Orange, VA 22960).
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Gerard's memory to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation, an organization whose mission of supporting our nation's heroes and their families reflects the values Gerard held so deeply.
