She was predeceased by : her husband Walter Lee Gaines. She is survived by : her daughters, Teresa Gaines Hamlin of Columbus and Lisa Gaines High of Chesterfield, Virginia; her sons-in-law, Jasper Leon Hamlin and Eric High; her grandchildren, Sean Nicholas Lee Hamlin of Houston, Deana Elizabeth Hamlin Britton (Reginald) of Dallas Texas, Jonathan High-Jackson (Issa) of Largo and Maxwell High of Atlanta, Georgia; her sisters-in-law, Rebecca Coleman of Orange and Rachael Palmer of Capitol Heights, Maryland; her godsons, Isaiah Coleman (Tony) and Joseph Coleman; and her nieces, Cathy Tracy and Wanda Coleman. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation was held on Saturday, March 23rd 2024 at 11:30 AM at the Little Zion Baptist Church (15116 Tomahawk Creek Rd, Orange, VA 22960). A funeral service was held on Saturday, March 23rd 2024 at 12:30 PM at the same location.
