He was predeceased by: his parents, James Garrett and Nellie Grey Ratcliffe Garrett; his children, Brenda Garrett Stankewicz and Ronald Garrett; and his siblings, Patrick, Jimmy, Sherman, Sonny and Mary Jenkins.
He is survived by: his wife Peggy Yancey Garrett; his sons, Robert Lee Garrett, Jr. (Bonnie), Randall E. Garrett (Robin) and Gary Crumpler (Vickie); his grandchildren, John Stankewicz, Kristin Wentland (Matthew), Lauren Murchison (Tyler) and Ryan Garrett; and his sister Nancy Crumpler. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, May 1st 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Preddy Funeral Home (250 W Main St, Orange, VA 22960). A funeral service was held on Friday, May 1st 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM and from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
