Though Emily may no longer walk beside us, her spirit lives on in the memories and the legacy Emily leaves behind.
She was predeceased by: her parents, John Smith and Lillian Smith; her husband James Winfred Carpenter; and her siblings, Leroy Smith and Lillian "Dimp" Pittman.
She is survived by: her daughter Susan Colona (George, family: Shelby, Ben Davidson, Stephanie, Grayson Solomon); and her sister Esther Pusey. She is also survived by great grandchildren; and seven cherished nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, April 24th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Exmore Baptist Church (11624 Occohannock Neck Rd, Exmore, VA 23350). A funeral service was held on Friday, April 24th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Friday, April 24th 2026 at the Red Bank Baptist Church Cemetery (9202 Seaside Rd, Marionville, VA 23408).
