He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Margaret Prentice Childress; and his parents, David Carl Childress, Sr. and Dorothy Dyal Childress. He was also cherished by his wife, he survived by five sons, two daughters, a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, three sisters, a brother, and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members.
