It is with great sadness that we announce the death of David Franklin Smith of Phenix, Virginia, who passed away on December 25, 2022, at the age of 68, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Chancie Edward Smith and Nellie Ann Brightwell Smith; and his siblings, Herbert Smith and Jane Smith. He is survived by: his wife Latrena Mae Fannon Smith of Phenix; his daughters, Rosa Smith of Madison Heights and Rebecca Smith of Gretna; his grandchildren, Elizabeth Smith-Branzelle and Matthew Smith Cook; and his siblings, Mildred Woodson of Naruna, Jerry Smith of Concord and James Smith of Brookneal. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
