He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe Fortner and Faye Fortner of Newport News. He is survived by: his wife Sandra of Bachelor's Degree; his sons, Matthew, Jonathan (Nora) and Brent; his grandson Jacob; and his brother Steve Fortner (Jane).
A funeral service was held on Monday, December 8th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Parklawn Wood Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel Building (2551 N Armistead Ave, Hampton, VA 23666).
