He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Hartman and Elizabeth Hartman of Hampton; and his brothers, Bernard, David and Frank.
He is survived by: his siblings, Robert of Houston, Jimmy of Newport News and Peggy Nettles (Bill) of Seaford; and his children, Ryan (Meghann) of Bellaire, Lauren Hodges (Ted) of Raleigh, Jordan of Newport News, Kristen Wolf (Brock) of Charlotte and Colleen Hartman of Poquoson.
He survived a lightning strike in his late 40s (carrying around a hand buzzer for anyone who asked about it), labored for over 50 years in shipyards, attics, and crawlspaces, and worked daily in many homes despite a pandemic.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to them. Tom donated his body for medical research through the VA.
