He was predeceased by: his parents, Armin Otto and Ella Anna Joraschky Apelt; and his son John Armin Apelt. He is survived by: his wife Patricia Smith Apelt; his children, Kathleen Apelt, Wendy Apelt Matheson, Charles Apelt and Laura Apelt Maney; and his sister Bernice Apelt Mussey of Springfield, Virginia. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 11th 2025 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at the Claytor Rollins Funeral Home and Crematory (836 Poquoson Ave, Poquoson, VA 23662). A burial will be held on Saturday, October 11th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Peninsula Memorial Park (12750 Warwick Blvd, Newport News, VA 23606).
