She was predeceased by: her parents, Mary Elizabeth Chesson and James Simpson; her son Louis Carter, Jr.; and her sisters, Blanche Peterson and Loretta Brooks (Alphonso Moore).
She is survived by: her children, Antonio Cortez Monroe, Jr., Lora Bunch (Kenny), NJ, Joyce Ann Baxter (John-Lee), Arthur Lee Carter (Sandra) and Mattie; her siblings, Hattie Williams (Connecticut), Dorothy Hood (Maryland), Linda Simpson (Georgia), Ernest Simpson (Maryland), Wallace Simpson (Pennsylvania), Lawrence Simpson (Pennsylvania), Bobby Lee Simpson (Valerie) and Andrew Lee Simpson (Connecticut); her close friends, Carolyn Smith and Melissa Brown; and her grandchildren, LaShunda Simpson-Ross and LaDasha Ross of Virginia Beach, VA. She is also survived by Nieces, Nephews, Cousins.
