We announce the death of Frankie Combs Snell (Portsmouth, Virginia), who passed away on October 7, 2026, at the age of 90. Frankie will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, Ervin E Snell and Meta Combs Mason; his wife Evelyn White Snell; and his siblings, Stella Snell Hargrave and Joshua Snell.
He is survived by: his daughters, Tammy Snell Umphlett (John) and Cheryl Snell Martinez (Orlando); his former wife Joann Shanks Alexander; and his grandchildren, Mark, Mike, Amber, Ashley, Michelle and Shelly. He is also survived by six great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 12th 2026 from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM at the Sturtevant Funeral Home (5201 Portsmouth Blvd, Portsmouth, VA 23701). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 13th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location. A reception will be held on Tuesday, October 13th 2026 from 11:45 AM to 2:45 PM at the Sturtevant Event Center (5100 Portsmouth Blvd, Portsmouth, VA 23701).
