He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe Hobie and Lucinda Boone (Holland); his siblings, Joseph T. Boone, Frank E. Boone (Clarine), Bobby Lester Boone, Mavis Brower and Mildred L. Talton (James); and his sister-in-law Marian Gunter.
He is survived by: his friend Ernest Hines, Sr.; his wife Agatha Gunter Boone; his daughter Michele Puryear (Jerre) of Oceanside, CA; his grandchildren, Jerre Puryear (Latarsha) of Suffolk, VA, Dr. Joshua Puryear of Indianapolis, IN and Jerna Puryear of Portsmouth, VA; his great grandchildren, Aaliyah and Aryeh Puryear; his siblings-in-law, Benjamin F. Gunter (Annie) of Chesapeake, VA, Vernon Gunter, Sr. of Onancock, VA, Dr. James M. Victory (Paulette) of Charlotte, NC and Ruth A. Boone of Portsmouth, VA; his nephew Frank Boone of Portsmouth, VA; and his close friends, Everett Brower, Robert Epps, Jr., Aaron Mann and Robert Smith. He is also survived by nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
Visitation was held on Monday, November 10th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Fisher Funeral Home (1520 Effingham St, Portsmouth, VA 23704). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, November 11th 2025 at 11:30 AM at the Mt Calvary Baptist Church (901 Thomas Cir, Portsmouth, VA 23704).
