Sonja Parker Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Sonja Parker of Portsmouth, Virginia, who passed away on June 14, 2021 at the age of 74. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Cyrus Jackson Sears and Lucille Melton Sears; her daughter Mary Sabrina Parker; her siblings, Cynthia Hopkins (Peggy), Jacqueline, Gainey, Evelyn Faye Ledbetter, Naomi Beslow and Alvin Sears; and her husband John H. Parker, Sr..

She is survived by: her children, John H. Parker, Jr. Parker (Renee) of Portsmouth, VA, U. S. Army Major Michael J. and Daphne Eaton (Vaughn) of Chesapeake, VA; her grandchildren, Derek, Jalante', Tiffany and Savannah; and her sisters, Linda Arrington (Edward) and Miriam Sears. She is also survived by cousins, nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

As the COVID health crisis is not over, the family has considered options to allow a public funeral service rather that for it to be private. In order to practice safety and protect those most vulnerable to include the elderly and those with compromised health conditions, the family requests that all funeral service attendees (within the appropriate age) to please wear a mask.
