We are sad to announce that on May 22, 2026, Freddie FAYNE Short of Pound, Virginia passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Ray Short and Dessie Short; his parents-in-law, Claude and Ethel McFall; and his siblings, Randall Short and Vera Lee Mullins.
He is survived by: his wife Anita McFall Short; his children, Heather Wilson (Paul), Stephen Short (Geraldine), Terry Short, Brandon Short (Rebecca) and Channing Short (Lasha); his grandchildren, Austin Short (Christy), Ethan Short, Bryson Wilson, Chloe Wilson, Owen Short, Dawson Short, Harper Short, Reid Short and Emersyn Short; his niece Rhonda Salyers; and his cousin Travis Short.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 26th 2026 at 5:00 PM and on Wednesday, May 27th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Baker Funeral Home (11316 Riverside Dr, Pound, VA 24279). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 26th 2026 at 7:00 PM. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 27th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Short Family Cemetery- Pound.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Southwest Virginia Cancer Center.
