He was predeceased by: his parents, Opechancanough Adkins and Flossie Minnehaha Adkins; his wife Brenda H. Adkins; and his sisters, Arleen Jump and Charlotte Allen.
He is survived by: his children, Ellen Zimmerman (Sid), Tonya A. Woodard (Kelly) and Derek Adkins (Jenni); his sister Gladys Adkins; his grandchildren, Kaylah Jones, Callie Martin (Dylan), Conner Adkins, Jayden Woodard and Ellie Adkins; his great grandchildren, Braxton Jones and Jasper Martin; and his friends, Arnette Adkins, Louis Stewart and Lucille Bradby. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Al's memory to Samaria Baptist Church or Chickahominy Indian Tribe.
