George N. Simmons Obituary
With solemn reverence, we commemorate George N. Simmons of Providence Forge, Virginia, whose life came to an end on October 7, 2025 at the age of 76, leaving behind cherished memories. He was predeceased by: his parents, Glen Simmons and Mava Simmons; his brother Robert Simmons (Bobby); his son-in-law Mark Bristow; and his brother-in-law John Brock.
He is survived by: his wife Doris Lindsay Simmons; his children, Dean (Joanne), Bob (Donna), Steve Simmons and Tammy Bristow-Gray (Scott) of Quinton, VA; his sister Sharon S Brock of Mill Gap, VA; his grandchildren, Jordan (Melissa), James Bristow, Daniel (Brette), Phillip, Ginna, Ashley, Michala, Madison and Macy Simmons; his stepgranddaughters, Jessica and Angelina Gray; his great grandchildren, Adelynn Coleman, Emmett, Raylan, Nora Bristow, Weston and Weslee Rae Browning; and his friend Lloyd Christian. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 11th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Hopewell Baptist Church (5061 Hopewell Rd, New Kent, VA 23124). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 11th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Saturday, October 25th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Back Creek.
In lieu of flowers a donation can be made in his honor to Hopewell Baptist Church or any Veteran organization.
