He was predeceased by: his wife Willie Jane; his parents, Lindbergh Johnson and Elizabeth Johnson; his brother Erskin "Cornell" Johnson; and his brother-in-law Allen "Hippo" Cotman.

He is survived by: his children, Lawanda (Larry), Tammie, June and Lloyd (Charlene); his brother Edward Johnson; his grandchildren, Lora Jones, Sonja Carter (Emanuel), Cheyenne Marshall, Jaylah Smith, Nola Johnson, Jarvis Harris, Lloyd Carter and Lloyd Jones (Monae); his aunts, Almeade Jones, Nannie Jones and Denise Johnson; his niece Brandi; and his sisters-in-law, Ann Tabb, Macie Johnson, Lou Ethel Craddock and Hattie Evans. He is also survived by other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
