He was predeceased by : his parents, Charles E. Allen and Iler Waugh Allen; his siblings, Helen L. Allen and Curtis E. Allen; and his daughter Helen L. Allen.

He is survived by : his children, David "Junior" Lee Allen, Jr., Shenia Palmer, Brittany Allen and Marcus Allen; and his siblings, Elizabeth "Channie" Allen Villinger, James Allen, Charles Allen, Jr., Patricia Diane Allen and Richard E. Allen. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in David's name to Calfee Community and Cultural Center, Pulaski, VA.
