He is survived by: his son Gary Matthews; his sister Ann Comstock (James) of Roper; his niece Nancy Cooper (Joe) of Belhaven, NC; his great-niece Molly Cooper of Belhaven; his nephew Donnie Edwards; Abby, Austin, Brandon, Cherrianne and Christopher.
