It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Joseph Anthony McDermott of Reedville, Virginia, who passed away on October 5, 2025, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, John J. A. and Alvina M. McDermott; and his siblings, John, Francis, Ruth, Bernice, Rita, Alvina, Robert and Benedict R. McDermott.
He is survived by: his wife Ann Flint McDermott; his daughter Donna Thompson (Tommy) of Reedville, VA.; his great grandchildren, Mason Shelton, Benjamin Shelton and Harbor Thompson; his siblings, Donald McDermott (Mary Jane) of Little Silver, NJ, Lois Persson of Baltimore, MD, Kathryn McDermott and Ann McDermott of Stela; and his sister-in-law Brenda Burton. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 8th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Fairport Baptist Church (2395 Fairport Rd, Reedville, VA 22539). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 8th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his memory to the Benevolence Fund of Fairport Baptist Church.
