He is survived by: his wife Linda Anne Jett; his stepsons, William Lee Ellis (Karen) and Benjamin Lee Ellis (Desiree); his grandchildren, Lindsey Murphy, John, William Ellis, III, Benjamin Ellis, Jr. and Georgia Ellis; and his great grandchild Addison Murphy. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was held on Friday, October 16th 2026 at 3:00 PM at the Remington Cemetery (11910 Cemetery Rd, Remington, VA 22734).
