He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Lee Carter and Lillie Virginia Mosley Carter; his granddaughter Alexa Grace Campbell; and his siblings, Bobbie Joe Carter and Opal Hess (Bobby).
He is survived by: his wife Janice M. Owens Carter; his children, Tony Carter (Glenda), Missy Miller (Tom) and Laura Campbell (Curtis); his sister Brinda Hayes (Ron); his grandsons, Austin Carter (Megan) and Conor Campbell; his great grandchildren, Everly Mae Carter and Kayden Rocky Carter; and his close friend Daisy Mae. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews.
