He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph F. Allen and Mary Pollard Allen; his stepmother Annie Allen; his siblings, Joseph "Felix" Allen and Shirley Jackson; and his son-in-law Benjamin Benford.

He is survived by: his daughter Cynthia Benford; his siblings, Jean Allen, Tanya Hockaday, Larry (Mazie), Michael (Sandra) and Stewert Allen (Vivian); his grandchildren, Saisha Benford and Benjamin "Ben" Benford; and his great grandchildren, Marquis Benford, Isaiah Harris and Jeremiah Harris.
