He was predeceased by: his parents, Monroe Franklin and Evelyn Elizabeth West; and also Robert West, Sr.. He is survived by: his wife Marylene West; his children, Priscilla Wilson (Kevin), Franklin West, Jr., Matilda Watson (Darryl), Dr. Zelda Johnson (Randall) and Nathan West, Sr. (Tonya); his foster daughter Diane Byrd Freeman; his sisters, Edith Harris and Elsie Lucas; his sister-in-law Betty West; and his sisters, Marie Powell, Reba Jackson, Ardella Herne and Lorraine Jarman. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation was held on Friday, July 25th 2025 from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM and on Saturday, July 26th 2025 at 10:45 AM. The lying in state was held on Saturday, July 26th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Third Street Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church (614 N 3rd St, Richmond, VA 23219). A funeral service was held on Saturday, July 26th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
