He was predeceased by: his parents, Frederic Hamilton Cox, Sr. and Margaret Shive Cox; his wife Elizabeth Blanton Broaddus Cox; his son Frederic Hamilton Cox, III; his brother Walter Scott Cox II; his sisters-in-law, Constance Young Cox and Claire Broaddus Matthews; and his sister Mary Garland Johnston.
He is survived by: his children, Margaret Cox Stott (Timothy Jameson Stott) and Reuben Garnett Cox, Sr. (Cerise Ann Cox); his grandchildren, Josephine Tyler Stott of Richmond, Elizabeth Jameson Stott of Richmond, Reuben Garnett Cox, Jr. of Richmond, Sophia Ann Cox of Richmond and James Tyler Cox of Richmond; and his siblings-in-law, Miles Cary Johnston, Jr., Reuben Hancock Broaddus, Jr., Virginia Broaddus Glover and Katherine Broaddus Blue. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden and St. James's Episcopal Church.
