It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Geraldine DeHanna Bannister of Richmond, Virginia, who passed away on December 10, 2025, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her husband Louis Bannister; and her son Vernon Bannister. She is survived by: her siblings, Kathleen Tisdale Jones (Reginald) and Joseph Tisdale (Ann); her aunts, Lucy Douglas, Loretta Tisdale, Mildred and Mary Hutchenson; her cousins, Wanda McGee (William) and Freddie Rainey (Gwen); her siblings-in-law, Joan Tisdale, Bessie Coleman and Willie Lee Bannister Sr.; her friend Betty Odom; and her godson Tony Gatewood. She is also survived by nieces, nephews.
Viewing will be held on Sunday, December 14th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM at the Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home (2011 Grayland Ave, Richmond, VA 23220). The lying in state will be held on Monday, December 15th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Church of God (300 W Roanoke St, Richmond, VA 23225). Visitation will be held on Monday, December 15th 2025 at 11:45 AM at the same location. A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 15th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
