She was predeceased by: her parents, Reverend H. Franklin Scotton and Lina Scotton; her husband Dr. William H. Joyner; and her siblings, Harry Coy Lee, Ted Lovell Scotton and Dr. Teresa Scotton Williams.

She is survived by: her siblings, Deacon Richard Scotton, Dr. Gwendolyn S. Bethea (Ronald) of Takoma Park, MD, Rebecca S. White of Ramseur, NC and Gail S. Baylor; her sister-in-law Carlise Blakey (Gerald); Rosa Scotton and Frances Scotton. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, family and friends.

The mathematics teachers, colleagues, and friends honor Dr. Joyner for her outstanding contributions to the field of education.
