He was predeceased by: his parents, Florence Bricker Kerr and John Ward Kerr; and his brother John "Jackie" Ward Kerr, Jr. (Carole Ann). He is survived by: his wife Sandra Jones Kerr; his daughters, Cindy Kerr of Tempe, AZ and Leah Chandler (Matt) of Joppa, MD.; his sister Betty Hicks (Ray) of Portsmouth, VA; and his grandchildren, Kerri, Steven and Breanna. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
