He was predeceased by: his wife Conchita Broncato Elliott Peaks; his parents, Vervin Rhodes Peaks (Sol) and Emma Clark Peaks; his sister Joyce Peaks Hardison Deans; his grandchildren, Benjamin Allen Mason and Charmel Dawn Mason; and his stepchildren, Janet Hope Elliott Harris and Norman Joseph Elliott.
He is survived by: his former wife Violet Griffith Peaks; his children, Cindy Leigh Gay Jones (Willy), John Russell Peaks, Jr. (Rusty), Bryan Clark Peaks (Paula) and Vervin Wayne Peaks; and his grandchildren, Christopher Leon Mason, April Mason Phillips, Jacob Aaron Peaks, John Russell Peaks, III, Hayley Nicole Peaks and Blakelee Morgan Peaks. He is also survived by ten great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
