He was predeceased by: his sister Minister Catherine M. Whitehurst. He is survived by: his wife Glenda Martin Mercer; his children, Johnnie Willie Mercer, Jr. of Brooklyn and Frances Yvonne Mercer of Petersburg, Virginia; his granddaughter Adelia Geneieve Mercer; and his siblings, Elder Joseph Mercer, Ronnie Mercer of Garysburg, NC and Gloria Lester of Elizabeth City, NC. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews: a host of cousins, relatives and many, many friends.
