He was predeceased by: his wife Nancy K. Durrett; and his parents, Joseph R. Durrett and Yula Nuckols Durrett. He is survived by: his children, Joseph R. Durrett III (Christian), David E. Durrett (Susan) and Kathy Gentry (Wayne); and his brother Tom Durrett (Becky). He is also survived by five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
