He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Thornton and Virginia Lynch; his wife Pauline Thornton; his son Franklin Dale Hill; and his siblings, James Howard Thornton, Arthur Thornton, Eugene Thornton, Eula Satterwhite and Elton Thornton.
He is survived by: his children, Leon W. Thornton, Jr. (Fern), Sheila Mae Thornton, Brandon Leon Hill, Andre J. Thornton (Phyllis) and Tangileaq Ly'onna Russell (Eric Nixon); his sister Marie Bagley; and his grandchildren, Danielle Thornton, Lakeisha Thornton, Deon Thornton, Demond Thornton, Thomas Henderson, Leon Thornton III, Courtney Reddick, Taylor Thornton, Keon Thornton, Tiondra Thornton, Ryan Graves, Andre Thornton Jr., Fiona Hill, DJ Hill and Theia Nixon. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
